Manchester United has reached the finals of the Europa League
With an aggregate score of 2-1, Manchester United has edged out a victory over Celta de Vigo and the English Premier League club will be facing off with Ajax in the finals which will be played on May 24.
This is the 1st time that Manchester United has advanced into the finals of the European competition since it kicked off which was back in1971.
Manchester United has generally been able to compete and qualify for the UEFA Champions League on a consistent basis but recent struggles has seen them being dropped to the Europa League and if they are able to defeat Ajax in the finals on May 24, then Jose Mourinho and his squad will earn a qualification spot for the upcoming Champions League season.
Jose Mourinho is not very pleased about the date of the finals as Manchester United still has 3 more Premier League matches left to be played while Ajax on the other hand only has 1 match.
‘’It will be difficult. They are a young team, strong team, they finish the league this weekend. From this weekend they will have 12 days to prepare. We have three matches to play and not many players’’ Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho said.
Ajax will have a much more relaxed schedule before their UEFA Europa League finals against Manchester United on May 24 but it’s a completely different story for the English Premier League club as they have to face off with: Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Crystal Palace on May 14, May 17 and May 21 respectively.
This means that there is a much higher chance of Jose Mourinho having his players injured or simply tired before the big finals.
